The 4J Parent Leaders group was formed in 2013 to improve communication between parent leaders at different schools, provide an opportunity for meaningful interaction with district leaders, and offer educational opportunities to parents active in the education of their children.
For 2020-21, we will continue our meetings, focusing on connecting and supporting parents working to improve our schools to benefit our community and our youth.
In 2018-2019, we hosted four district-wide meetings at the District Office, including a training on how school funding works in the State of Oregon.
In 2017-2018, we hosted three district-wide meetings at the District Office, and held two trainings; Making Meetings Matter and Difficult Conversations in Schools.
In 2016-2017, we hosted four district-wide meetings at the District Office and co-hosted a School Board Forum with the League of Women’s Voters Lane County.
We promoted the message that school kids need safe ways to walk and bike to school and attended candidate debates.
In 2015-2016, we hosted four district-wide meetings at different high schools for parent group leaders across the Eugene School District 4J community. They were opportunities to ask questions, hear updates from District leadership, and learn about resources.
